OVERVIEW
This 8-day Great Migration safari takes you through Tanzania’s most iconic wildlife areas, focusing on following the movement of wildebeest across the vast plains of Serengeti National Park. The journey begins in Arusha and continues through diverse landscapes including Tarangire National Park and the world-famous Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Depending on the season, you will explore different regions of the Serengeti to witness key moments of the migration, from large herds grazing on open plains to dramatic river crossings. The safari combines extensive game drives, scenic routes, and comfortable stays, offering a complete wildlife experience in Northern Tanzania.
Day 1 Arrival in Arusha and overnight stay
Upon arrival in Arusha, you are met and transferred to your lodge where you can relax after your journey. The day is reserved for rest and a short briefing about the safari ahead.
Day 2 Arusha to Tarangire National Park for game drive
You depart Arusha and drive to Tarangire National Park, known for its large elephant herds and baobab trees. Game viewing begins upon entry, with opportunities to see a variety of wildlife along the Tarangire River.
Day 3 Tarangire to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After a morning activity, you travel toward Ngorongoro Conservation Area, passing through scenic highlands and local villages. The area offers impressive views and sets the stage for the next day’s exploration.
Day 4 Ngorongoro Crater tour and transfer to Serengeti National Park
You descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive in this unique wildlife haven, home to a dense concentration of animals. Later, you continue your journey toward Serengeti National Park.
Day 5 Full day in Serengeti following the migration
A full day is spent in Serengeti National Park tracking the Great Migration. You explore areas where herds of wildebeest and zebras gather, with chances to witness predators in action.
Day 6 Serengeti migration exploration
Another day in the Serengeti allows for deeper exploration of the migration routes. Depending on the time of year, you may witness river crossings or large grazing herds moving across the plains.
Day 7 Serengeti to Ngorongoro highlands
After a morning game drive, you begin your return journey toward the Ngorongoro highlands. The drive offers scenic views and a gradual transition from open plains to cooler highland areas.
Day 8 Return to Arusha and departure
On the final day, you travel back to Arusha where you are transferred to the airport for your departure, concluding your Great Migration safari experience.
